Special Contests
IDM / Bombardier Design Contest

The Institute of Design Montréal (IDM), in collaboration with Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) Design and Innovation Group, is launching a third contest with a transportation theme. The prize includes a bursary accompanied by an internship for a student in his or her 3rd or 4th year of a design baccalaureate or master's program. The aim of this contest is to encourage young designers to develop innovative ideas for advancing design applications in transportation.

Eligibility
• University students in their 3rd or 4th year of a design
baccalaureate or master's program
• Research projects focused on transportation themes

Contestants registered in the University-Student-Enterprise Partnership program will be eligible if their project focuses on transportation.

Prize
The winner will receive a purse of $2,500 and will be invited to accept a paid internship for three (3) months in one of the BRP Design and Innovation Studios.

STEPS TO FOLLOW
1. Registration
Students wishing to enter the contest must register by completing the Entry Form available on the IDM's Web site at www.info-design.qc.ca and make sure it reaches the IDM.

2. Submission of models

Registered students are to submit their project to the offices of the IDM.

Documents required
• Model or prototype
• One 8.5" x 11" page with maximum 250 words
describing the project
• Technical drawings

Evaluation criteria
Innovation (originality of concept, esthetics, use, etc.)
Human factors (ergonomics, psychology, etc.)
Technology (plausibility, functionality,
environmental impact, etc.)
Overall appreciation (quality of presentation
and process)

Selection
A jury will meet early in May to evaluate the entries and award the prize. The jury reserves the right not to award the prize if it so deems. The results will be revealed at the Institute of Design Montréal Awards Gala in May.
