Ville d’Amqui

Winner of the competition organized by the Reford International Garden Festival and in conjunction with the town of Amqui, Quebec, the project's primary aim was to transform a historic site into a modern-day promenade to enhance the town's renown and incorporate it into the Gaspé tourism circuit.

An original road sign concept arouses travellers' curiosity and leads them right to the site. A reference back to the days of old-fashioned chalk and slate boards, the trees bordering the trails were covered with white recalling the old milk road and evoking former markings identifying the lie of the old Kempt road, the first to cross the Valley. This dynamic site contains, among other things, a series of landscaped clearings stressing the rich history of the town and the Valley.
