Biography
Raymond Moriyama is one of Canada's
most respected architects/planners.
He lives in Toronto and practises worldwide.
His interest lies in the area of formal
and self-directed learning and areas
related to democratic and diplomatic
institutions. Among his award-winning
projects are: Ontario Science Centre;
Scarborough Civic Centre; Canadian Embassy
in Tokyo; Bata Shoe Museum; Bank of
Montreal Institute for Learning; the
Saudi Arabian National Museum in Riyadh;
Canadian War Museum in Ottawa; 100 Year
Studies for Meewasin Valley, Saskatchewan,
and for Niagara Falls, Lake to Lake.
Born in Vancouver and educated in Vancouver,
Slocan Valley, BC, Hamilton, Toronto
and Montreal, he received degrees from
University of Toronto and McGill University.
He and his wife, Sachi, have five grown
children. Two are now architects and
partners. They are blessed with ten
grandchildren, so far.
In the spring of 2001, he was elected
Chancellor of Brock University, the
first architect in Canada to receive
such honour.
