Biography
Michel Dallaire was born in Paris, France
in 1942. As early as 1967, he was already
making a mark as an independent thinker
and freelance designer. When opened
his own design firm, it charted a rapid
path to professional and commercial
success.
His fields of activity are very varied
and encompass in particular designing
useful items, industrial and institutional
products, site furniture and transportation
equipment. Michel Dallaire is currently
senior design advisor to Air Canada
for all its cabin equipment for both
its domestic and international fleets.
He has just recently completed the design
for all the public furniture in the
Bibliothèque nationale du Québec.
Since 1998, Michel Dallaire has been
Associate Professor at Université
de Montréal's School of Industrial
Design and with the Faculty of Environmental
Design at the University of Calgary.
From 1988 to 1998, he was a regular
lecturer at the Département Supérieur
de Design Industriel de lÉcole
cantonale dart de Lausanne, in
Switzerland. In 1993 and 1998, he hosted
seminars at the École Nationale
Supérieure de Création
Industrielle de Paris.
Education
Michel Dallaire studied at Montreal's
Institut des arts appliqués from
1959 to 1963 and at the Konstfackskolan,
Stockholm's Graduate School of Industrial
Design, from 1964 to 1965. He then specialized
in design management at the École
des Hautes Études Commerciales
de Montréal in 1972 and in polymer
transformation at the National Research
Centre's Industrial Materials Institute
in Montreal in 1981.
